The approaching 21st Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival is about to kickstart a month-lasting cultural feast for calligraphers and enthusiasts from home and abroad on Sept 20 in Linyi, East China's Shandong province.

Linyi, known as the capital of logistics in China, is also the hometown of Wang Xizhi, the calligrapher sage and scholar of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317–420). Since 2003, Linyi has hosted the Calligrapher Sage Culture Festival 20 times, with the participation of more than 1,300 enterprises and 5 million people. The event has gradually become an influential cultural activity.

In memory of his 1,722nd birthday, the event will feature 38 activities, including calligraphy exhibitions, calligraphy-themed tours in Linyi, cultural and tourism exchanges, and handicraft exhibitions. It will bring visitors and calligraphy enthusiasts immersive cultural experiences and offer deeper insights into traditional Chinese culture and art.

In addition, starting from August, a total of 350,000 yuan (about $49,100) of Linyi calligrapher cultural consumption vouchers have been being launched throughout the city. These vouchers aim to boost consumption in sub-sectors of the cultural industry, such as publishing, stationery, intangible cultural heritage, and cultural and creative products. The activity will last for five months, aiming to stimulate the cultural consumption enthusiasm of the general public and support the development of local cultural enterprises and merchants.
